Bill watches the
election results with complete shock. Sadness consumes him as he realizes
the way the balance scale is tipping—not in his favor. George calls Bill. As
Bill answers, he hears laughter and immediately becomes angry. Bill thinks to
himself, how can anyone be laughing at a
time like this? George temporarily halts his laughter and says, “Who
would have thought neither your wife nor my son would win this thing? I vote we
stop paying our dues to the Presidents Club if this guy is joining the group.”
Bill drops his head and sniggers as he realizes who has called. Both men sit in
silence as they realize the institution which they revere now rests in the
hands of someone neither can tolerate. Laughter is their only escape.

Flashback
In 2032, at age 86, Bill Clinton boards his plane to his
daughter Chelsea’s third campaign event of the day. As he takes his seat on the
plane, his mind drifts to 16 years earlier. On election night in 2016, Bill
received a call from his good friend, and fellow member of the elite Presidents
Club, George Bush. Bill remembers George calling and providing a few moments of
laughter in an otherwise dreadful night. George had made jokes about
dropping-out of the Presidents Club and how the experts had all been incorrect. In the midst of yet
another hard-fought campaign, this brief flashback allowed Bill to drift back to
a time of laughter with his dear friend. The humor provided by George during
that tragic time had been Bill’s only escape from the harsh reality he and his
wife had faced. As the plane lifted off the ground, Bill could only hope Chelsea’s
election would have a different outcome.

Subject: Election Results?!?!?!?!
Bill,
Not looking good for the home team. LOL! Who would have ever
thought neither Jeb nor Hillary would win this thing? Hillary’s team should
have taken your own advice because this election was all about “the economy, ‘Stupid.’” Hell, now we
have to suck up to The Donald. You going to the inauguration? Barbara really
does not wish to attend. It is much more pleasant on the coast of Maine than in
the political climate which is Washington. Plus, there are nice buffets here.
Keep your head up. Laugh instead of cry. Laughter is all we have left.
FYI, I have inquired into ceasing dues payments to POTUS
club. George, Jr. is thinking about cutting-off his payments with me. Maybe we
can start a new club.
Yours,
George “Stupid” Bush
