Horror Variation: I Finally Have Her
It was finally time. I peeked out long enough to
see the darkening skies and hoped the streetlights wouldn’t give me away. I
imagined her going about the same routine, freshening up for another night out,
one I had watched countless times from afar. I could feel the car turning into
the drive, my heartbeat racing as she walked towards the door. Four years with
this ridiculous man, one who couldn’t even decide on a decent damn meal. I knew
I would treat her better, that she would learn to love me. During the few
excruciating seconds of silence, I poised for the blow. Just as the man turned
to ask her the same question for the hundredth time, he noticed the shadow in
his peripheral. It was all so sudden but so very worth it. I now had her all to
myself. Never again would she have to decide on dinner.
