Bill meticulously watches the election results with absolute
shock and disbelief. He realizes his worst nightmare is now his even worse
reality. George calls Bill. As Bill answers, he hears thunderous, hysterical
laugher and instantaneously becomes hostile toward the person on the other end
of the line. Bill screams into the phone, “How can anyone be laughing as we
watch the world as we know it come crashing down around us!?” George takes a
brief break from his laughter and exclaims, “Absolutely no one on Earth could
have predicted this outcome! Neither my son nor your wife winning this race? This
has to be the biggest upset in history!” Bill somberly lowers his head as he
realizes the identity of the chuckling man on the phone. The two bewildered statesmen
sit in complete silence as they laboriously ponder how their massive empire has
crumbled around them. They simultaneously begin to laugh—it is their only
remaining escape.
